Concept:
This is a painting of leaves blowing in the wind past what may be the last leaf clinging to a tree. What’s different about this painting is that the leaves no longer attached to the tree are green with life, while the leaf still clinging to the tree is brown, possibly dead or, at the very least, not living—perhaps in a state of limbo.
This painting can be interpreted in several ways. It can be taken at face value. Or it can seen the attached leaf is afraid to take the leap of faith and join the others in the joy of life. As well as that life can pass you by if you wait too long. It could also reflect my personal experience of spending time visiting my mother in a nursing/rehabilitation facility, where I have observed many elderly individuals in the final stages of their lives, who, by appearance, are merely existing.
